- Reported gross margin (68.3%) exceeds adjusted (66.0%) because reported benefits from a one-time $158M reversal of 2025 tariff charges embedded in cost of sales.
- Operating income growth of 49.1% is inflated by that tariff reversal plus lower acquisition/impairment charges vs Q2'25 ($55M goodwill impairment last year).
- Adjusted net earnings grew a more modest 17.6% and adjusted EPS 17.9%, better reflecting core operating performance excluding one-offs.
- Orthopaedics segment reorganized: new 'Ortho Tech' combines Orthopaedic Instruments and Other Orthopaedics; Spinal Implants now negligible after divestiture-like runoff.
- MedSurg and Neurotechnology (+9.7%) outgrew Orthopaedics (+9.1%), led by Medical (+13.4%) and Endoscopy (+11.7%); Vascular was the only declining product line (-0.7%).
- Effective tax rate rose to 18.4% from 13.0% y/y, partly from discrete tax matters tied to intellectual property transfers between jurisdictions.
